Simon Küffer was born in Bern in 1981. He is a graphic technician and a member of the scientific staff at Bern University of the Arts (BUA).

Bill - The Visual Rhetorik of Money

The thesis aims to investigate systematically for the first time the proportion of visual communication in the "money discourse" and to contribute to the understanding of the visual nature of money. At the center is the question of whether and how images-shapes of money are a social reality, and to what extent they are particularly suitable for this purpose. Apart the design of a bill (Banknote), pictorial material showing money or picking out money as a central theme will be analyzed in a visual-rhetorical way and as well as studied empirically and experimentally. Using figurative material that shows or discusses money, a theory of visual rhetoric of money will be designed.
